Allison Elementary Water Bottle Drive
It is already starting to feel like summer in Austin! Kiker Elementary is collecting brand new water bottles for the students at our sister school, Allison Elementary. We hope you will consider donating to keep them cool and hydrated throughout the summer. The water bottles will be used during their summer camps and sent home with students. Donations can be placed in the Allison Elementary Box in front of the school office. If you have any questions you can email me at email@example.com. Thank you!
All Student Library Books Due – Win Game Time!
May 17 for grades K-2 and May 18 for grades 3-5
Classes who have returned ALL their library books win a 30-minute game time in the library! All students in the class must be totally clear of all library obligations by 3 p.m. on May 17 for grades K-2 and May 18 for grades 3-5. If a book is lost, the student must pay for the book. Books that are paid for and later returned to the library will be reimbursed. Good Luck!
Kiker Library Birthday Book Club
So far about 200 students have joined this year’s Kiker Library Birthday Book Club. A picture of each student holding their donated book is displayed proudly in the library. If your child’s birthday was in the fall or even last summer and has missed joining, it is not too late! By joining, you are helping to support our school library, adding many wonderful books for every student to check out. Please see the attached form for more information.
Thank you for supporting our Kiker Library!

Keep Kiker Beautiful
Sign up for as little as one “Pick Up” for the 2017-2018 school year. It’s fun, easy AND it’s a great chance to help out and teach your kids the importance of giving back. All you do is pick up all trash around campus and throw it in the trash can and take any lost items (toys, jackets, lunch boxes, jackets, etc.) and place them by the double back doors next to the entrance to the cafeteria. In under 30 minutes you can make a HUGE difference in how Kiker looks for our kids, teachers and community. Sign up for a weekend pick up at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e45acaa29a46-picking
TEA Report Card

Your child’s Fitnessgram scores are now available to you through the Austin ISD Parent Cloud – my.austinisd.org! Every year during the month of October, Kiker 3rd-5th grade students compile diagnostic scores in several different parts of health related fitness; which include aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. These fitness components are integrated with PE lessons. The students receive a final assessment of the five components in April. While only 3rd -5th grade students are assessed, all students (K-5) work on these fitness components on a regular basis in PE.
CSH is a process which brings a school community together to teach children to be healthy for a lifetime. AISD has chosen to use the CATCH program as a resource to help schools make it fun and doable to implement CSH. This quarter’s CSH theme focuses on “The Home Team: Family Matters.” Specifically, we want to: Build a strong bridge between campus efforts to promote healthy habits and the home to help reinforce them and sustain them. The main activity we will be focusing on this theme will be to “CATCH” students being healthy. Please use the CATCH Got caught sheet to reward your kiddos at home! https://curriculum.austinisd.org/pe_health/ms/csh_catch/documents/ms_caughtyouhealthy_eng.pdf
