Keep Kiker Beautiful
Sign up for as little as one “Pick Up” for the 2017-2018 school year. It’s fun, easy AND it’s a great chance to help out and teach your kids the importance of giving back. All you do is pick up all trash around campus and throw it in the trash can and take any lost items (toys, jackets, lunch boxes, jackets, etc.) and place them by the double back doors next to the entrance to the cafeteria. In under 30 minutes you can make a HUGE difference in how Kiker looks for our kids, teachers and community. Sign up for a weekend pick up at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e45acaa29a46-picking
TEA Report Card
The 2016-17 School Report Cards (SRC) are now available from the Texas Education Agency’s website. https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/2017/campus.srch.html
Your child’s Fitnessgram scores are now available to you through the Austin ISD Parent Cloud – my.austinisd.org! Every year during the month of October, Kiker 3rd-5th grade students compile diagnostic scores in several different parts of health related fitness; which include aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. These fitness components are integrated with PE lessons. The students receive a final assessment of the five components in April. While only 3rd -5th grade students are assessed, all students (K-5) work on these fitness components on a regular basis in PE.
CSH is a process which brings a school community together to teach children to be healthy for a lifetime. AISD has chosen to use the CATCH program as a resource to help schools make it fun and doable to implement CSH. This quarter’s CSH theme focuses on “The Home Team: Family Matters.” Specifically, we want to: Build a strong bridge between campus efforts to promote healthy habits and the home to help reinforce them and sustain them. The main activity we will be focusing on this theme will be to “CATCH” students being healthy. Please use the CATCH Got caught sheet to reward your kiddos at home! https://curriculum.austinisd.org/pe_health/ms/csh_catch/documents/ms_caughtyouhealthy_eng.pdf
